Exhibit: Beyond Belief: The Curious Collection of Professor Rufus Excalibur Bell
- Free with Museum Admission
Enter the Higgins' Department of Curiosities headed by Professor Rufus Excalibur Bell - a professor who has been studying the creatures of mythology for decades, but has been missing for almost as long. Look through the artifacts, specimens, and equipment that the professor sends back in mysteriously marked crates and cases. Discover where the professor must have traveled in order to unearth such items as a Yeti, a Gargoyle skeleton, and the Argonaut probe. Examine the equipment he has sent back, like a Miniscule Winged Specimen Influxator (a fairy vacuum), to see what an explorer needs to use to examine, capture, and preserve these strange objects of study.

School of Swordplay
6:30 PM-8:00 PM - Registration is $180; $150 for museum members
Have you ever wondered what it is like to wield the knightly longsword or the musketeer's deadly rapier? At the Higgins Academy of the Sword you will receive expert instruction in your choice of rapier, longsword, and/or dueling sabre, as well as classical forms of modern fencing weapons. Classes offer a safe, progressive system of instruction, building overall fitness and coordination as you learn living swordplay traditions handed down from the days when a person's life might depend on their skill with a blade. Our ongoing series of sessions is taught by internationally recognized swordsman and fencing historian Ken Mondschein: we invite you to join a growing community of men and women exploring the art, science, and spirit of the sword.

The July session will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8, starting July 7 and ending July 30. Class is open to age 16 and up. Pre-registration is required. Contact Rhonda Houle at (508) 853-6015, ext 20, or higgins@higgins.org for more information.
