Sir Jeremy Bell
(WORCESTER, Mass., August 12, 2005) – Where else would you expect to find a workshop involving sabers and champagne? On Tuesday, September 13 at 6 p.m., Sir Jeremy Bell (www.maninaskirt.com) will lead a rousing, yet educational, tutorial on the “art of Sabrage” or opening a bottle of Champagne with a saber. Participants, who will each saber their own bottle of champagne, will also be treated to a port “tonging” demonstration in which a bottle of port is opened with red-hot pincers and a frozen feather, thus inducting them into the “Knights of the Saber and Tong” (and they’ll have the membership pin and certificate to prove it!).
The cost to participate is $85 for Museum Members ($110 for Non-Members) and includes instruction, bottle of champagne, light fare, membership pin and certificate. To register contact Sara at (508) 853-6015 ext. 26 or smurphy@higgins.org. Pre-registration is required by September 7, 2005.
“When Jeremy Bell is involved, you can guarantee a entertaining evening,” said Kent dur Russell, executive director of the Higgins Armory Museum. “He’s a Scotsman at heart!”.
A history and demonstration of saber use will be presented by Mark Millman and Patri Pugliese (both members of the Higgins Armory Sword Guild).
