Description:

Brought together by an interest in repairing and preserving all things metal, participants, faculty and related staff and board of trustee members will gather to celebrate the commencement of the 2005 Metals Conservation Summer Institute at a reception and dinner held at the Higgins Armory Museum.

With participants from as far away as Argentina, South Africa and Greece and from well-known institutions such as the Biltmore Estate, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Buffalo Bill Historic Center, the group will also include a faculty of regionally and internationally known experts in the field. Local representatives such as Prof. Ronald Biederman from WPI and Joseph Hamilton, President of the Higgins Armory Museum Board of Trustees, are also expected to attend.

The MCSI is a partnership between the Higgins Armory Museum and the Metals Processing Institute at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). 2005 marks the second year in a three-year series of programs centered on metal conservation.
