The History Channel spent a day at the Higgins Armory Museum in early January, filming for an upcoming documentary on "Amazing Animals". This marked the fourth time in a year that the national cable network has visited the museum. The show's subject is the history of the horse in battle, and will include the Crusader from the permanent collection. The Great Hall also served as background for four expert interviews for the program. Higgins Armory will receive a film credit for its part in the production. The show is scheduled to air the week of April 15th.
The History Channel filmed at the Higgins again on Monday, February 11, for an episode of the series "Modern Marvels" titled "Axes, Swords and Knives". The program will showcase items from both the permanent collection and storage, and an interview with Paul S. Morgan Curator Dr. Jeffrey Forgeng. The episode will air sometime this summer.
The Higgins has also been approached by Vogue Magazine in NYC to provide a chastity belt for a photo shoot by the famous photographer Irving Penn. No word yet on when the issue will appear on newsstands.
