Combat Wing
 n this
gallery of the museum, you will find a timeline of armors, from the end of the age of mail in the 1300s, through the evolution of plate armor, to its general
abandonment in the 17th century. The styles and types shown range from the mail-clad Crusader mockup on horseback in the center of this photo, to the
elegant German "Gothic" style of the late Middle Ages, the highly textured surfaces of the "Maximilian" style, the ornate decoration of late Renaissance armor,
and the utilitarian armor from the 1600s.
Staff weapons and other arms adorn the walls, while other pieces like a combined "gun-shield," and a beautiful 15th century stained glass window of
Saint Adrian are displayed among the suits. Here you will also find a gilded bronze nineteenth century French statue of Joan of Arc, one of very few women
to have worn armor.
