Join us to learn and practice the combat skills of medieval Europe's most fearsome warriors: the Vikings. We draw heavily on the medieval sagas set in Viking-age Iceland, stories that often depict Viking-age fights. Our goal is to research, practice, and learn the Viking fighting moves taught in the sagas.

Incorporating a new approach to teaching historical martial arts developed by the instructor, Dr. William R. Short, students follow a series of drills, games, and exercises to learn martial fundamentals, and then use expanded versions of the drills to research and to build upon our knowledge of Viking fighting moves. The work is physically vigorous, mentally challenging, and above all, fun.

We meet three times each week at Higgins Armory Museum: Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 to 6:30PM, and Saturday from 4 to 5:30PM.

All required equipment is provided for beginning students; more advanced students are expected to purchase the needed equipment that suits them best. New students are accepted with permission of the instructor. After you have been accepted to the class, please bring the Class Waiver Form with you to your first session. A $50 monthly fee covers the cost of the practice gear, which must be regularly replaced.
